Home By Any Other Name
In the city
every room is a madhouse.
In the city
every head is a personal hell.
In the city
every street is paved with good intention.
In the city
all the madness becomes normal.

It's A Long Way To The Beach
There is a certain kind of silence
late at night that most will never
know. The sound of bodies resting,
breathing at a relaxed pace which
their normal lives exceed. You can
hear the cats copulating in the alley
much to the nuisance of those drunk
and trying to get some sleep. By the
beach, if one stills the mind and body,
you can hear the water gently lapping
the sand like a lover nestled between
thighs tightening in late night rapture.
Cars pass by intermittently as restless
minds stay up wondering about the
sounds of the restless city by the beach.

The fairy tale came true for you.
The glacier cracks
thunderous
as ice rains down.
A newly born
white leviathan
slides into the
sea. A journey
far and away
to temperate
waters will
melt the giant
into the sea
from which
it came
Disappearing Act
I slipped on my mask as I walked past you,
hoping you wouldn't notice me coming near.
I breathed in deep and held my breath. You
never looked once. Such strange creatures we
are. I looked back only to see you join the
crowd like a grain of salt falling into an hour
glass.
Dudes & Damselles
Sitting in the rusted (out?) wrecks of ourselves
We share meals at long tables
Like Mexican royalty
As they bring our plates
Of chile rellenos,
Burros, huevos y mas.
Our blood is primed
From drink, our lungs
And skin resonate
With the smoke
We’ve inhaled.
We laugh,
We share
The burden we’ve willed
Onto ourselves.
City lights glow outside,
Humming loudly
But drowned
By the rhythms
Of the tires
Passing by.

Over Turning The Rock
Turning over the rock
from the grass in which
it is embedded,
the moist
dirt teems with life
squirming to hide in
darkness once more.
Do we return the rock
to its place
or leave the dirt
exposed to the sun?
RE: Words
Do you just throw them out there in hopes
that a few will get your point across? Or, do
you meticulously pick and order them for
maximum effect? Perhaps this has never
crossed your mind until now. If that is the
case, what is that like?

The Final Meeting
Like all the great masters
you worked and
worked until
the very end.
As it approached
your gaze never
broke with its eyes.
Body collapsing,
the spirit raging
within. The time
had arrived at
long last. It wasn't
the women,
the alcohol,
the madness of our
world that brought
you to an end.
You asked
"why me?
why not?"

Small Kindness
It's
the small acts of kindness
that keep this world
alive.
In
the face of abysmal odds
or
encroaching responsibility,
these small acts
keep the soul believing,
keep the body moving.
Kindness,
so small,
how large you loom
in our continued
existence.

A Smattering Of Random
When the silence comes
will you hear what you’ve been missing?
Your tongue forgets
what your hands remember;
isn’t that
always the case?
______________
In these dreams we become the beasts
we had always hoped to be.
_______________This lust blinds us.
_______________
Driving the madness away and back again.

Communion
We share this communion
bathed in sound
under the cover of darkness.
This pain is meaningless
when we join together
to drink, laugh and
live our lives
in a manner of our
choosing.
How beautiful
we are as one.

this Demon
this Demon resting on my chest
as corporeal form rises above
this place of rest. chest tightens
as space displaces the contact
between the known. sinister
intent broadens its smile.
muted mouth cannot speak,
cannot scream. thoughts stream
in terror as only one answer
emanates. laughter, I fear
nothing. not you, not this.
so it ends, space closing,
coming to rest once more upon
the bed. a fitful sleep.
The Creator Has A Master Plan
Unseen fingers stirring tides onto shores
where water laps the sand upon which
you rest. A constellation casting its light
down upon your eyes, removed by space
so distant and dividing. Wind speaks in
tongues so ancient that language forgoes
words, aims straight for the heart of the
soul. Gifts showered on us like torrential
pours, skin inhales the succulent taste of
stimulation,vibration. Each heartbeat a
sunrise of endless gratitude; night and
day prosper in endless harmony. Your
hands touch the water lapping at your
feet. Harmony in creation, life found in
the essence of essential vibrations.
The Creator Has A Master Plan.

Crystal
Crystal tears shattering on pavement.
You no longer buckle beneathe heaving
gasps of breath. Tears long past and spent.
Girls I've Known
We all grow older
with the passing
years. It is a fact
incontrovertible
to any other
mode of thought.
Seeing the faces
of women I have
known; watching
them age in still
pictures, the years
reveal themselves
slowly, spreading
through skin and
smiles. Youth, so
fleeting; how quic
-kly you leave us.
This Weekend Wasn't Enough
Your name is on my lips
as I seek to bring them
close to mine. Thoughts
of you dance fitfully in
my mind as the midnight
hour closes in. Let me
take your breath and
feed you with my kiss.

In Heaven
and when our time comes,
our heaven won't be filled
with clouds, harps and angels.
it will be dark, quiet, and the
only sounds you will hear
will be far off into a distance
you will never reach. you may
think that doesn't sound like
heaven at all, or is it?

Who and Where?
I can't stand to be here any longer.
I hope you understand.
It's not anything you've done,
I've just changed.
Don't cry,
it's not easy for me either.
Please stop, you know I can't
stand to see you like that.
I have to leave.
There's no going back.
I'm sorry.

the wind blowing through the curtains,
a door latch catching,
a gentleness one cannot repair.
