Streets In The City
Lives intersect
like streets in the city.
Lights go green
turn red
with yellow in between.
Roundabouts are rare
though confusing at first,
will lead you to many paths.
Dead ends
are rarely ever
just that.
Stretches of industrial streets
can be so lonely at night,
Afternoon freeways
crush the soul with the weight
of millions of bodies
attempting to reach
where all roads end,
Home.
Our vanity has expanded far beyond mirrors.
