and they get on just fine
Sitting on her stoop drinking
forties and smoking cigarettes
Evening wind blowing between
them
He's got to get back to work
he says
I don't mind just do your
job and don't be long
she says
He takes up to leave and looks
at her and wishes he didn't have
to go He takes a long pull off
the forty bottle
She gives him
a hug and he dissipates into
evening
The embers of her
cigarette burning still
