Patchwork Puzzle Art
We walked into the toy store and quickly
found our way into the games aisle.
You reached into the shelf that held the
jigsaw puzzles.
The first one was a bland landscape you
often see on the walls of dentists offices.
You looked around and made sure no one
was near us when you ripped open the first
box. "What the hell are you doing? Are you
nuts? Security will catch you!"
Your smile said, "No, they won't" as you grabbed
a piece from that first box before putting it back
on the shelf. You repeated that process another
dozen or so times. Each lone piece found a new
home in your purse. "Let's go" you said. I could
feel eyes on my neck as we walked through the
sliding doors. No one came after us as we got
in your car. When we got back to your place
you emptied the orphaned pieces out onto your
kitchen table. If those puzzle pieces were children
that had just been adopted you would have had
an international coalition of the unexpected.
You pulled an empty picture frame out of the
closet and pried the back off. I could only watch
in curiosity as you set the pieces down one by one
into the glass before placing the backing on it once
more. A wide grin spread across your face
as you turned the frame to me and exclaimed
"Isn't it beautiful?"

On Love - A Poem (of sorts)
1) It starts out with a conscious choice to forget.
After a few days you realize it is a fairly useless
act. At that point you can embrace the emotions
and memories that have weighed the spirit down
or continue to shun them and risk further turmoil
in yourself. The heart and mind know the high
cost these feelings and memories can exert on the
present. In the interest of self-preservation you'll
come to a moment of balance, a peace that you
struggled against until finally relenting.
2) It is often hard for me to follow my own advice.
There are faces I see in familiar places that haunt me
still.
3) Love: we crave it deeply and when we feel it
missing from our lives lament its absence and vow
anything to gain its return.
4) To know love even for a brief moment is enough
sometimes to continue onward. Safe in the knowledge
such a wondrous thing came to be for such a brief
instant.
5) The loss of love can be one of the events in life
that can reshape the course of ones existence. The same
holds true for its finding.
6) It is possible to live without love though almost all
of us would prefer not to.
7) We are far more interdependently connected than
we can admit or see.
8) Hearts burn in both absence and unrequited desire.
9) Love can be found even in the attempts we make to
created a needed distance.
10) Whether or not one subscribes to the idea of religion
and the world of the unseen and beyond, Love would be
enough in itself to justify our existence in this world.

Between (part 1)
It's not too often you wake up on your back inside a
lifeboat staring up at an ashen sky. I suppose thats
the most normal part of what I'm going to tell you.
There is nothing particularly normal looking about
this place, wherever the hell here is. Once I began
to look around all I could see was water and trees;
large, gnarled, dead trees jutting from the water like
a field of skeletal hands begging the sky.
I'm not sure how long I sat there at first as I drifted
through the trees. It was a strange and terrible beauty
being there. I didn't want to chance getting out of
the boat and into the water because I had no idea
of what could be there. From what I could tell
there were no creatures moving about to speak of.
I couldn't see into depths.
In the boat I did have a pair of oars along with an
old note book full of missing pages and a pen.
The note book didn't look familiar but I assumed
it was mine, otherwise why would it be there? I
didn't bother rowing for some time because the
water seemed to know where I was going. It was
good enough for the time being.
The sky never broke from its one color palette.
There was no sun to speak but there was no moon
either. I assumed there had to be a sun since there
was enough light to see around that place. If I had
to say what time it looked like it was, I'd guess it
was somewhere around 5p.m. at any given time.
That's just a guess.
I had a lot of time to think then. That's really all I
could do besides watch the scenery. Even the
strangeness of the place became boring after a
while. It just goes to show that we can get used to
just about anything.
What I began to notice was how mutilated and dead
all these trees seemed. They were shorn of all their
leaves like an endless winter, the bare branches
lonely without their adornments. Some of the trees
looked utterly dead, others looked like they were
struggling to maintain the flicker of life.
There was a lonely silence that was only broken by
the sound of the boat slowly pushing through the
water. For all the trees around there were no other
signs of life to be found. No small creatures scurrying,
no birds nesting, chirping. Just a perpetual loneliness
that held on tight like a mother to her newborn.

The words find their way out.
They don't care about set routine.
They come and go as they please.
When they come you better be
ready because they are already on
their way to some other place.

Nothing in life is static nor should we expect it to be.
He cut out his eyes and tongue.
Afterwards he sat on the stairs calmly awaiting the police.
What we choose to do with who we've become.
The end came so quickly. The wheels still spin.
There is no peace within.
Did you give up the ghost inside?
Was there nothing left to find?
We are running from time to time.
I've become the ghost you've always known.
Love has failed me again.
What I want is never what I get.
Try and try again.
Drowning in my faith,
my inability to change.
The change is real this time.
I'll miss you ___.
This isn't settling...
It's correcting my past mistakes
if you'll let me.
D.Boon...you're always right...
What we know of ourselves is
always subject to change
as we grow older.

Patient
The hours in here are so lonely.
Waiting between waking
for any company
to while away the time.
Outside the window I can see
the life of the city streets.
Cars buzz like bees
day and night.
There is no honey here,
just space being crossed from
place to place.
All this white-
the steady warmth
of machinery,
its hum a melody
I never wish to hear again.

Guidelines
Don't be too sentimental.
Get to the point of what you are trying to say in the fewest
words possible.
Remember, sometimes it it necessary to use more words
than you normally would.
There is beauty even in the everyday occurrences of our lives.
Laugh as often as possible.
Never forget to let your words be as reflective of the encompassing
experience known as life.
Don't be afraid to mine heartache and disappointment for fodder
but don't seek to dwell in them more than necessary.
Less is more but more is always more.

Ghost Advisory
It is common knowledge that when ghosts kiss
there is a spectral anomaly that can be seen by
those who are not yet freed from the confines
of a physical form. This phenomena has been
documented as balls of light appearing in photo
graphs with no other discernible light source.
If there is a larger confluence of ghosts kissing
in an area there may be noticeable changes in
weather and an upsurge in lightning.
