Near the Beginning

Sitting here year after year
Morning after morning
Night after night
Being born again
Light emerges slowly
It always emerges
It always finds you

A New Day

Jumping into the winter chill outside
even the trees shudder

Bundled in warmth
Breathing in the frost

Where do the deer roam?

The Blank Page

The blank page is a promise
only you can fulfill.
It starts here with some words
The words needn't be anything
other than themselves.
There doesn't need to be
a special occasion
or greater purpose
they can just simply be
That is enough
That is all
I am thinking
of what I wish to say
but now I don't hesitate
I let the words speak
through me
as they have always done
Such a need
to do this
A small example
of hope

Crossing

Her small hand fit easily into her father's as they crossed the street.
He held a twelve pack of beer in his right.
Her mother carried the groceries.
The light turned green as they set foot on the sidewalk.
It was the first day of the new year.

A Constant Apocalypse, A Constant Rebirth

Men have always prophesied the
end of days. It has been no different
in our time. Those men have always
been right and they have always
been wrong. The world ends with
every death and is renewed with
every birth. Our age is always
ending, but we are constantly
reborn.
