through all darkness

days darkened by the dimming of hope
nights long and unforgiving
cold winds driving warmth
from our bodies
can there be surrender
must we continue onwards
yes yes yes
darkest night will break
a beaming pinhole of light
shining through
becomes the beacon
we have awaited

Pendulum

What does it take for us to change
what has seemed unchangeable?
How much must we suffer
before we look with honesty?
We all share in this shame and guilt.
We can be compelled but what
moves us to act?

Live and suffer for money.
Idol worship of fools and folly.
Man created and destroyed
by our own economy imagined.

Does not all of Man desire not
a place to live, but a home?

The mistakes we have birthed
have matured and birthed ones
of their own.

We search ceaselessly for answers.
They are here. They are here.
We have seen them and turned
them away but they are here.

Can we move towards a better union?

Caught between hope and
hopelessness.

Swing of a pendulum.

What We Have Found

We have to hold on to the hope that we can find.
And I'm hanging on I'm hanging on to you.
Tell me Please tell me this is fine That I'm fine.

I won't let this life tear it all apart.
And you're hanging on you're hanging on to me.
And I'm hanging on I'm hanging on to you.
We have to hold on to the hope that we can find.

The Blank Page

The blank page is a promise
only you can fulfill.
It starts here with some words
The words needn't be anything
other than themselves.
There doesn't need to be
a special occasion
or greater purpose
they can just simply be
That is enough
That is all
I am thinking
of what I wish to say
but now I don't hesitate
I let the words speak
through me
as they have always done
Such a need
to do this
A small example
of hope

A Morning's Worth of Thoughts

Change?

Change.

Love?

Love yourself.

Respect?

Respect yourself.

Answer?

You are the answer.
________

Are you ready to believe in yourself again?

What golden path are you searching for?

Accept Winter but work for Spring.

I wake up and sing along to Leonard Cohen.

There is a reason.

Create the better life for yourself.

Believe. Accept.

Do not be afraid of the answer.

Embrace your beauty as much as your flaws.
You will never be perfect
But you can always be more fully yourself.
Allow yourself that opportunity.

Will you allow yourself to succeed?

Know your limits.

More than mere flesh.

My heart is a flame.

Let us move forward in peace.

Write More.

The answers are here for you.

I'm Talking to You

When will you be honest with yourself?
You can lie to yourself
You can believe the lie
But the truth will always be seeded within.
Strip away the ordinary thoughts
That cloud your mind-
Your fears and insecurities
Needn't always be drowning your heart.
Your bad habits are only keeping you
From a higher sense of self.
Take up the mantle of work
And labor for what you desire.
Sweat under the sun,
Put your feet to the track and run.
Do not be complacent with your
Words and actions.
Become angered and willing
To create that which you wish to see.
The days are falling behind you
And you cannot see how many
Remain ahead.
Be honest.
I can hear myself.
I can hear that voice
Ringing clear
Like a church bell on
Sunday morning.

Crossing the Desert

Thirsty and dried up tongue
Relentless sun beating
Feet no longer able to walk
Now what
Submission or
A stubborn continuation
Of hope?

Rise

I will remember
I must remember
This veiled past
Mistakes and
Intuition
How to walk
Again after so
Many years
Confined

Friendship in a Time of Revolution

Honest

I never said I was
Brave but I pray
Every day when
The moment comes
To act I will
Be by your side

Uncertain Light

I'm writing this for you
because I hope you will
read this some day
and remember when things
were simpler though
you wouldn't have thought
so at the time

Hardship grows and mounts
as we age and awareness
of this world comes to view

Perhaps you'll remember
writing this and addressing
it to yourself while at home
sick on a Saturday night
while deep in the heart
of the city protestors are
roaming the streets

How little there is
that is fixed

These days

These nights

Bathed in uncertain light

On Hope

I'll take hope anywhere and anytime I can find it.
To live without it is to surrender to the forces
that seek to destroy us. If we can preserve hope
within we can always persist.

You Are Worth Saving

There is something worth saving
within all of us. It is not up to us
to judge what that is, merely to
know it yet resides and must be
given the chance to thrive.

There will be a time
of Hope and no pain
and in those hollows
we will live again

Time Enough

Is there time enough

     for us to change

There is

There is

as long as hope

is carried

there is enough time

     for us to change

Oh, Sea of Longing
You must be crossed
For hope to become action

An Overflowing Heart / An Empty Bottle

Another late night
The bottle sits

                       empty

on the floor

The tumbler on my desk
emptied of life

as my blood heats my flesh

a bead of sweat

tr
  ickles
           down
                     my
            spine

Music
fills my ears

I close my eyes -

dream

          of better days

The beginning of the universe was an act of hope before hope had ever existed.
