No More Worry

Worry doesn't worry me anymore but perhaps that
is good enough reason to worry now. My mind
sifts through thoughts like loose gravel. I let the
dawn encroach and overwhelm. The birds make
themselves known once again. Light has overwhelmed
the sky. It is among us once more.

Weight of Air

Air heavier than the weight of the vast sky
Pushes down on my heart and
Weighs me to the ground
My feet can scarcely
Move the weight
Of my body

Tenant of the Attic

My mind rattles in it's cage
and I grow alarmed

We get along beautifully
most days but

from time to time
it begins to worry

so I begin to worry
I tell it to

hold on
that this will pass

It always does
no matter what it is

Worries of one kind or
another always hang around

like the misfit in the back
corner of a classroom

Mind-
promise me

we'll always make up
after a fight

and forgive each other
for our shortcomings

Worry

Worry came in for a visit and sat down on the couch.

She picked up the doily from the armrest and stared

at it. I asked her "Would you like a drink?"

I could see white enamel as she said "That would be

great." She put the doily back and said "Do you have

lemonade?" The corners of her mouth spread to their

fullest. Her cheeks glowed red warmth. "I should have

some" I said. I walked to the refrigerator and saw the

open box of lemonade I picked up last week.

The glass held a pink sea of sugared lemon as I brought

it to her. She nodded to me as she took the glass from

my hands and pressed it to her lips.

Her shapely legs crossed as I sat down opposite her.

It was always hard to say when she would come by.

She always overstays her welcome.
