Eventually. everything is about death.

Surely, we must let the rains fall
as we must let the sun shine.

Edge of the Heavens

When you wake up to a gray and overcast morning
Ready to burst with rain do you feel inconvenienced
at the coming storm or do you ready yourself for the
deluge I'll often sit and find myself writing about the
view outside and the shifting moods of my mind in
those early hours Obscured by the clouds but I know
the sun is hidden behind the wall of rain It has to be
It is There is nothing here but relief at another day
under the edge of the heavens

tied

to return from nothingness

night after night

this is our condition

morning daze

bright shining sun or

clouded over continents of gray

ever present wind coming in from the sea

water cannot stay still

continually crashes upon the shore

mind and body

together for as long

as the night holds the day

June Storm

The Sun is being lazy today.
Night lingers weakly. Gray
smears the sky like melted ice
cream made of cinder blocks.

Is this a premonition?
Should I await heavenly tears?
It would be a welcome change
from days of perpetual warmth.

Bundled up on an overcast beach,
the bite of cold wind,
the anguished churning of tides,
small beach bars all but empty.

It would be a perfect day to be
together, to find peace in a storm
where others would flee
to rooms of warmth.

Nature is just as beautiful
in moments of distress.

The Assault

They arrive with the sound of a thousand footsteps

all marching to different beats. The first moments

are the heaviest as they spread across every surface.

Their effect can be measured by the mark on every

exposed inch. They collect into pools and puddles,

strategizing their next move.

Reinforcements arrive after the first wave has eased,

the bombardment intensifies as eyes peek from behind

slatted windows, safely hidden from their assault.

Suddenly, without warning, silence. The troops

on the ground are left behind, some left to dissipate,

others taken hostage to be dealt with later.

Eyes peek through the windows once more,

the scene changes, the air is cleansed. Lungs breathe

deep, a reminder of an ancient covenant emerges.
