The Loneliness Of Winter

Winter sings lonely from her canopy bed,

a kingdom of glacial white and leafless

branches marks this passing season of

death. Songbirds lay quiet as the beasts

slumber in wait for better times. Snow

falls from her face, cascades softly to

the ground with the gentleness of a kiss.

Winter, how lovely you are in this

frozen isolation. Winter, how lonely

you must always be.
