I saw you in the hall

crouched against the corner,

your head rested against your

chest and folded arms.

"Are you ok?,"

I asked.

You said nothing.

You rocked

back & forth,

just enough to see you move.

I asked again

& met the same response.

I stood there in silence,

you said nothing.

We had an understanding

there in our shared absence.
